Having worked on this ambitious project for many months, we have been given permission to release the first images and animation of ‘The Wave’. It is due to be submitted for planning within the next week.
Long the source of traffic disruption in south east London due to the bottleneck of commuters created by the raising of Tower Bridge, a novel road extension scheme has been proposed. The Wave is a new elevated road, cycleway and pedestrian route that will enable commuters to use the bridge 24/7 uninterrupted by river traffic. A modern reinterpretation perhaps, of the original intent to keep the bridge fully operational through high level walkways as proposed by the bridge designers Horace Jones and John Wolfe Barry.
